Abstract – Online social spaces are typically designed in ways that severely limit the capacity for users, workers, and other direct stakeholders to self-govern. What if such spaces were designed differently? This talk diagnoses the current limits and explores frameworks for thinking about the future of online governance design for a more deeply accountable digital spaces.
